'Madame Pierre Oger'

Can you believe, I found this old garden staple in, of all places, Home Depot? Are Old Roses becoming that commonplace?

I found her as a potted but unbroken rose from a company called "Magnifiscents." She bloomed only sparingly for me last year, but she grew like a weed to about two meters tall. While I was thrilled to see the growth, it proved to be a problem in our notorious wind; canes were constantly being snapped in halves. I ended up this year tying her to some bamboo loops, and she seems happy enough with these.

In my garden Madame Oger blooms throughout the summer. Those translucent petals just amaze me. When backlit, this rose is just astoundingly beautiful.
