'Song of the Stars'

Gallica, 2001, P. Barden

'Song of the Stars' is a seedling of 'Alain Blanchard,' and considered by her breeder, Paul Barden, to be an improvement in every way. She came to me on 2 May 2007 with one bud, which opened into the flower at right. The flower sulked for a day and then fell apart. Actually, the whole plant sulked for most of the summer, but come the cooler days of fall, she put on some really excellent growth. Look at her first 2008 flower!

This is a spectacular flower! And what intrigues me most about it is that the spotting on this flower is markedly different from the spotting on other roses like "Fa's Marbled Moss." And then there's that luscious, velvety purple!

Oy, have I got a match for you!
